Have you ever felt like you are going to wrong direction? Maybe you might have felt like your spinning your wheels going nowhere fast. I’m sure you have, as I have. I’m pretty sure everybody has felt this way one time or another.
One day I had the experience of coming up to two stop signs where the street names were the same. It was a new place for me and I wasn’t sure where to go, so I went straight up the hill. I felt lost and started seeing bars on the windows, then I passed the railroad tracks. Fear settled in and I turned around and headed back the way I came. Once again I was back where I started at the stop sign. This time I went right and found my location. What I learned from that is that my inner guidance was telling me I was off course. If you feel you are off course here are 3 steps that may help you.
Here are 3 key indicators to tell if you are off course
Step 1: Resist letting go.
When you are resist letting go you are hanging on to what you knew, thinking it can work out. This appears in relationships, jobs, a style of being or thinking. You are not willing to let go of the situation. You are attached to it, stuck, holding on for dear life. Your identity is caught up in the situation and you are not willing to let it go for something better. You are afraid to change. The key to know here is that the more painful it becomes, is a sign that you are not in alignment. It’s time to let go and move on. Where in your life are you resisting change or letting go?
Step 2: You are not exercising your no muscle.
Your no muscle has two parts. The first part is a knowing and the second part is the word no. When you have a knowing as in, I just know this is what I am meant to do. You are in alignment with your inner compass and life just seems to flow. It is easy, as you are going in the right direction.
The second no is your word no. Did you know that no is a complete sentence? The world is always giving you opportunities to say yes or no. If you are not feeling excited with tingles all over your body and feel alive, then you need to exercise your no muscle. By say no to some of the opportunities you are given. You are now opening yourself up for something that is bigger and better. The key is to say no to those things do not bring you joy. The opportunity may seem logically and makes sense, but if you are not feeling it in your body, then the answer is a no.
Step 3: Failure to grow.
This is where you stop learning and trying new things. It’s like you are stuck in a rut. You go out to the same restaurant. You drive the same way every time. You do the same thing day in and day out with nothing new coming into your life.
The good news is once you are aware that you are off course it’s easy to get back on track. You could practice letting go of something such as an item in your house. You could practice telling someone no when you normally say yes to something you really don’t want to do it. You could take a class, drive a different way or even try a new restaurant.
With these three steps you can now tell when you are off course. Give them a try and practice noticing when resistance show up. Remember to exercise your no muscle and stretch yourself to learn something new.
